Lounge is a Western style bar/cafe owned by a British expat and located just a minutes drive from the center of town in a quiet and peaceful location near the canal and tranquil cycle paths. With its outdoor seating area and comfortable sofas inside, it makes it a great place to chill away from the busy city center and relax in the mountain scenery.
Just two minutes walk away from one of the main English language schools in Yangshuo, it is a regular spot for many of the local teachers to hang out, meet the local expats, and a great place to chill out after a long day.
Lounge has a diverse range of products and services on offer throughout the week. On a daily basis, they serve Western style meals such as spaghetti bolognese, sandwiches, and chili, as well as many other dishes. The staff are also happy to cater for specific dietary requirements, and will always do their best to provide you with the best food and experience they can. The recent addition of the deep fat fryer means more exciting options coming soon! I was lucky enough to have a sneak preview, and I can certainly say that it does not disappoint.
For big ale drinkers and beer fans, Lounge boasts the widest beer selection in Yangshuo with over 32 imported beers to choose from, such as three different types of BrewDog, an array of IPAs and several Belgian beers. They also offer hand-crafted Baijiu, locally distilled with fresh fruits and spices. Popular flavors include Apple Pie, Mohito and Orange and Coffee. Get them in a cocktail or as a shot!
For the tea-totalers or those morning hangovers, Lounge also does a great cup of tea or coffee.
Of a Tuesday, Lounge hosts a lively open mic night for the local musicians, which always guarantees a fun night of good company combined with good tunes. Of a Thursday, it hosts a weekly quiz which sees expats and locals alike compete for a cash/bar prize.
Although it may not be scheduled in on a diary, Lounge also offers regular film nights, as well as screenings of popular TV dramas on a projector. The A/C, comfortable sofas, and endless beer selection make for a perfect lazy evening with friends.
Lounge will also be host to the finale of the Yangshuo Assassins game, where many expats, assassins or not, will come together armed with water pistols and water bombs. So, if you’re planning your visit towards the end of August, you might want to either come armed and ready or give it a miss.
It’s friendly staff and comfortable interior ensures a welcoming and homely feel, making it seem as though you’re having a few chilled out beers at a friends house.
