I recently got the chance to visit Yongzhou, a small boring Chinese town. Ever heard of it? Probably not, but that does not mean I am not going to genuinely try and force a third 400-word blog piece about one of the shittiest towns I have been in the world. Why? Because I have now decided I will write about every hotel I stay in.
Why The Vienna Hotel Yongzhou?
A friend of mine had some teaching work in Yongzhou and I suggested I come along, partly to see what it was like to travel to Yongzhou, and partly so I had some fodder for crap blogs. One of the bonuses about going to crap towns is the cheapness of the hotels, and the Vienna Hotel ticked all my boxes.
What are The Vienna Hotel Yongzhou rooms like?
When going to Yongzhou you can be get a semen-infested hellhole for about $8, a decent room for $15—20, or you can go pimp daddy for $50. Our suite was extremely decent if not somewhat 70s in feel. Two bathrooms, a shower rather than a bath, and 2 TVs (neither of which had anything watchable on).
The Vienna Hotel Yongzhou Location
We took the Vienna Hotel nearest the train station, which meant it was seemingly in the middle of a building site. There were a couple of BBQ places and sod all else, although taxis are cheap so it wasn’t a huge issue.
If you venture away by taxi there are apparently some ethnic villages that are cool, as well as an island 23km away that Chinese tourists like. They also have BBQ restaurants in Yongzhou that serve pig penis and snake, if that’s your thing.
The Vienna Hotel Yongzhou – Facilities
Not a single hotel in Yongzhou had a swimming pool, including the Hotel Vienna. There was a restaurant that serves breakfast that we didn’t try. Why didn’t we try the hotel’s breakfast? Because Chinese breakfast is basically shit. Really shit.
Conclusion on the The Vienna Hotel Yongzhou?
How to start on a conclusion to The Vienna Hotel Yongzhou whilst being honest and also whilst inserting the 50 words I need to keep the Google gods happy (see what I did there)?
For the price the Vienna Hotel is great, but for location you are better staying in the other Vienna Hotel that is in downtown Yongzhou. Most importantly though if you happen to be traveling to Yongzhou you should question how your life reached this point in the first place, then make changes accordingly.
