With its beautiful scenery and extremely laid back attitude to life there’s a big reason why Yangshuo is an extremely popular place for expats to live. Now whilst “teaching in China” is hardly reinventing the wheel Yangshuo has a number of schools such as Omeida that offer full-time, part-time and seasonal teaching jobs in Yangshuo, that whilst not high paying compared to places like Beijing offer salaries that are more than enough to survive on.
The ancient noble art of bartebding has been a traveler staple for a while, and bartending in Yangshuo is no different. Salaries are less than teaching, but bonuses include free accommodation, free booze and not being a teacher. Check out Expat bars like The Llunge, Bad Panda, or The DMZ Bar
Yangshuo had tourists, so therefore needs tour guides. If you can ride a bike, climb, or like walking around Yangshuo with children then there are opportunities to be a tour guide in Yangshuo.
Like any tourist town Yangshuo has seasons, and this seasonal work. Come along any summer and people are begging for smiley English speaking faces to work in summer camps, or stand about looking foreign.
Believe it or not there are restaurants that will PAY you to stand outside dressed a silly costume just because you are foreign, but be aware hours are long and PAY is somewhat poor.
