So Yangshuo might have a reputation for being overrun with tourists, but there is a reason tourist towns like Yangshuo get overrun, and that is because they are epic. Yangshuo is not only probably the most beautiful town in China, but undoubtedly one of the most interesting, so here’s our top 5 tips for what to do in Yangshuo.
5) Eat and Drink
Ok….so does eating and drinking in Yangshuo count as doing something? In our mind it does. Even huge Chinese cities offer scant choice for great food and drinks, but Yangshuo has plenty, and it’s all within walking distance. For drinks check out Thr DMZ Bar, or Lounge, and for great western food check out The Brew, or Ganga.
4) Go to Xingping
Have a look at the back of an RMB 20 note, that’s Xinping a small throwback town said to be a more authentic version of Yangshuo. You see Chinese people standing with a 20 note next to the iconic picture plane. If you want to get some funny looks hold up 2 10s…..
3) Bamboo rafting
The concept is simple, you grab some beers rent a bamboo raft and go down the Li river enjoying the views of Yangshuo. Can’t say better than that!
2) West Street
Ok so it’s heaving and full of tourists, but heading to the night markets here for a bit of street food and people watching has to be done at least once. And if the credit Edd start to bother you head up to Bad Panda for a beer and rooftop view.
1) Rent a motorbike
Renting a motorbike in Yangshuo is without doubt the most fun you can have with clothes on here. Pick your bike up in town and within 5 minutes you are cruising through the Yangshuo countryside enjoying the breathtaking scenery, stopping for food and drink on the way.
